Maysa Amer is a PhD researcher and Fellow at Free University Berlin, Germany. Her current research focuses on platform governance, power, and dis-misinformation. She presented her research in several conferences and events, including the GigaNet Symposium. Amer was the recipient of a Ford Foundation fellowship dual degree at the American University in Cairo, where she obtained a Master’s degree in television and digital journalism and a post-graduate diploma in public policy. Amer holds another Master’s degree in political communication from the Faculty of Mass Communication at Cairo University. Amer earned multiple awards and grants, including Erasmus, Ford Foundation, ECREA, and DAAD. She has taught communication policy and research methods as a lecturer of communication and media policy in Egypt, where she delivered multiple courses and supervised graduation research projects. Amer also gained early professional experience in journalism and news production from her internship at the Associated Press (AP).
